Helpful conversations- that is a short, simple way to describe what you and I would do together. It is really hard see what you look like without a mirror. Conversations with me serve as your mirror. Most people who talk with me experience greater calmness, clarity, and direction. I offer expertise and support for a wide range of difficult problems that we all can face, problems that are often extremely hard to discuss with friends or family. I guess I can serve as a sort of wise, helpful, confidential friend for you. It can be a great help to talk with someone who has a lot of experience helping others who have walked a similar path. I have a lot of professional training and experience. So do a lot of other people. I think that something that makes me much better than a lot of my colleagues is that I have been in the client chair a few times. Growing up with a suicidal abusive mother will do that to most of us. As a client, I have been the victim of absolutely stupid blunders by therapists. I know how badly that feels, so I work really hard to not do it myself!

Many of my clients come to me after having been hurt, disappointed, or completely misunderstood by other psychotherapists. I am not perfect, by any means, but I am pretty good at what I do.
